A great method for making a seemingly endless supply of money would be to become a web designer. Website design can either be used to create sites for yourself or for someone else. You can work on websites in your spare time which is perfect if you need a flexible schedule but still make money.
Go easy on the graphics in your website creation. While graphics are important to give your website a professional, cohesive and well-designed look, using too many of them can create clutter. Graphics are not for decoration or ornamentation. Instead, they are to help you improve the overall appeal and usability of your site. Having the right amount of graphics that don’t clutter the design can improve the site’s usability, too.
Don’t keep outdated content on your site. You will lose the attention and credibility of your readers if the promotional offer on your page expired months ago. Allowing information that is outdated to remain on your website is a sign to users that you have not taken the time to update your site and it implies that you don’t care about their time. Set a schedule to review the site, to ensure that outdated information is removed, and fresh new content is added in its place.
You must be sure that your site is optimized properly so that it can be viewed in all browsers. Most people do not like Internet Explorer, but others still use it. The older versions do not render all site elements to comply with web standards, which means using workarounds. Make sure to look at the infamous “box model bug,” which has been an issue for IE for several years.
Try using easy, maintainable and clear navigation. Navigation links are important for visitors to stay on your site. It is important to keep the navigational structure tidy and organized.
Include text content on your link page. Links with content should be visible enough to show the viewer what they’re clicking. If links on your site do not contain text, visitors may accidentally select them using keyboard shortcuts.
Be sure you’re testing your site early and it gets tested on an often basis. It’s very important that you carry out your site’s user interaction and usability tests as early as you can in the design phase of your website. That will allow you to make necessary design changes during the build process.
Always opt for fonts that area crisp and easy to read. A site that uses classic fonts will look more professional. Comic Sans and fancier fonts may not be available on a lot of your users’ computers, so don’t use them. If your reader doesn’t have the font you require, their browser will substitute a default font instead, possibly throwing the layout of your entire page off. The results are uncontrollable and often unattractive.
You don’t want to utilize a counter on your site. It may look like you’ve added something neat to your site, but many visitors do not wish to see that. Ditch the counter and use tracking software instead.
Now that you have read through these tips you have some new ideas on how to best design your site. Just keep these tips in mind, always keep up with the latest trends and you could have a very successful website.
